Posthoorn

Saturday night I went with my in-laws to restaurant Posthoorn in the Waterland area (Monnickendam to be exact) in order to celebrate an special occasion. The stablishment was awarded with one Michelin star and we decided to enjoy it during the restaurant week. That is the fifth edition. Restaurants that usally charge 50 euros per person for a four course dinner reduced the cost to 25 euros. Posthoorn had an offer of 35 euros for a four course dinner during the restaurant week (excluding, of course, the drinks). The restaurant week lasted from the 2nd to the 8th of March and reservations should be made a couple of weeks in advance. 879 toprestaurants in Holland are taking part in the restaurant week this year. 170 of them are in Amsterdam.

We started with a Bellini.

The amuse, a raw tartar

Starter: tuna and Dutch shrimps

Main course: veal with a blood sausage, liver, mushrooms. The kitchen in French-Mediterranean, and uses products of the Waterland area.
The sphere in the restaurant is classic and has international allure. The service was very correct.

An ice-cream lolly of goat milk with honey
Dessert: basil ice-cream with a crumble, pineapple compote with rose petal coulis, two layers chocolate brownie with bitter chocolate sauce and nuts. The basil ice cream was spectacular !

The toilet was sober

Enourmous lights hanging from the ceiling

The cheese tray (not included in the arrangement)

Our coffe and cognac was served in de Gentlemen's room, near the fire place.
You can also enjoy cigars there.

Leather armchairs and art books and magazines.

Posthoorn also receives small groups in an exclusive room for maximum 20 people.
It is also a deluxe hotel.
