Brazil Contemporary in Rotterdam

While waiting at the bus stop this week, I noticed this poster and immediately started taking photos of it with my new superpowerful atomic camera (he-he-he). First I thought it would be an exposition somewhere about Brazilian culture with some photos of shanty towns, pieces of indian ceramics and some guarana berries and Cd's of Bossa Nova. Because Brazilian culture is misunderstood and very underestimated. Later on that same day, checking the site (http://www.brazilcontemporary.nl/) I was surprised by the whole thing. My eyes popped out. Brazilian culture is presented as "dazzling" and lots of other adjectives:

"Discover and experience the dynamic culture of Brazil with a cocktail of visual art, architecture, film, video, photography, computer games and design. A culture where art and craftsmanship go hand in hand and where artists tell a story about society. Modern Brazilian culture is one of the most vibrant and exciting in the world. "

Works of some big names are in the exposition which goes from 30th May to 23th August 2009.

"Rotterdam will have a Brazilian feel this summer. With visual arts, architecture, design, fashion and music Brazil Rotterdam focuses on a culture that is dazzling like no other. The leading item on the programme is Brazil Contemporary: Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, the Netherlands Architecture Institute and the Nederlands Fotomuseum will show how Brazilian high and low art are combined into a fascinating whole absorbing other cultural influences effortlessly. Brazilian wall paintings will appear throughout the city, jazz music and opera with Brazilian influences can be enjoyed and there will be (film) festivals, fashion shows and performances. "

Humm, I will have to find some time among the other 8576 things I have to do this summer and check that ! Interested ? Do not forget to click here
