Okay, I don't believe in things
that go Bump In The Night, or reek of
FANTASY.
I mean seriously, take
Red Riding Hood. How butt ugly must her
Grandma have been for Red not to see that
wasn't her Gramma the minute she entered the cottage? Was Red's eyesight, despite being a little kid,
that bad? And if it was, why would her parents allow her to go skipping off into
the woods with a known wolf on the
prowl?
My friend Mary Compton, is a really, really
talented writer, or she would be if she'd just write about believable things. She's taken to writing
ADULT
FAIRY
TALES!
Adult Fairy Tales...yeah, she IS selling her stories, but just to mediocre
fantasy magazines. Not anywhere the
REAL world would be interested in! She gives them to me to read, but honestly,
I hide them. Can you imagine if my friends saw them? Give me a good old copy of
COMPUTERS I LONG TO
BYTE. At least if my buds see THAT magazine in my place, they won't ridicule me.
But Mary is always trying to pawn her latest story on me, forcing me to have
to cross my fingers and
lie through my teeth when she asked if I've read them. It is just sooo
exhausting.
Today I am hoping our
trip into the Country for a leisurely
picnic I'll finally convince her she needs to start writing stuff that will...well...
sell...everywhere!
Hang on a sec.
What's this? There's a fork in the road. I can just about see it through all the
dust. Don't remember this stretch looking like this, and hey!
The sun's wrong. What the
devil's going on here?
