LJ HOLMES PRESENTS THE BOYS UPSTAIRS

Growing up in violence doesn't make for many happy Christmas Memories. All too often violence begets violence. When Jay Farrel went to the Gulf during Desert Storm, his tall body contained a lot of inner fury.

Miracles happen in some of the least anticipated ways. Who among us would consider being permanently injured in a war with strangers, a miracle? Yet for Jay Farrel, it brought him to God and made him look at the most unfortunate as his salvation.

Using his rectory, in his impoverished community, Father Jay opens the upstairs to homeless boys he can ill afford to feed, but can equally ill afford NOT to feed.

Still the wounds from the past stand between Father Jay and his brother, Kevin Farrel, a police officer. So much pain, so much distrust, so much seething emotions and conflict.

Holly Mayfield, the local waitress who is more than just a tiny bit interested in Officer Kevin Farrel, works hard with Father Jay to make St. Gus' as good a place as any impoverished church can be. She longs to help the brothers, and the boys upstairs find their paths to joy.

All of them need the grace of Christmas forgiveness, tolerance and joy. Will they find their road map towards a brighter future?
